The myCar platform by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) will officially reopen on April 1, allowing vehicle owners in Greece to proceed with the reactivation of their vehicles.
This process mainly concerns drivers who have previously declared their vehicles as immobilized (off the road) and wish to use them again, either temporarily or permanently.
What is Vehicle Reactivation?
Vehicle reactivation (lifting of immobilization) allows owners to bring their cars back into circulation after having submitted their license plates.
In recent years, Greece has introduced proportional road taxes, meaning drivers only pay for the months they actually use their vehicles.
How the Process Works via myCar
The entire procedure is completed online:
- Log in using Taxisnet credentials
- Select the immobilized vehicle
- Submit the reactivation request
- Pay the corresponding road taxes
- Instantly restore circulation status
No visit to a tax office is required.
Cost of Reactivation
The cost depends on the duration of use:
- 1 month → 1/12 of annual road tax
- 3 months → 3/12
- 6 months → 6/12
Important:
Proportional tax payment is allowed only once per year.
Key Requirements
Before putting your vehicle back on the road:
- It must have valid insurance
- It must pass technical inspection (KTEO) if required
- Road taxes must be paid in advance
After the selected period expires, the vehicle is automatically placed back into immobilization.
